Business Standard · business
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) achieved a record net purchase of $43.26 billion in August, significantly higher than July's $18.65 billion. This surge was driven by dollars mobilized under a concessional swap facility for foreign currency deposits and borrowings, which were then routed back to the RBI. The central bank bought $74.47 billion and sold $31.21 billion during the month. This marks a reversal from previous months where the RBI was a net seller, with cumulative net dollar buying in FY27 reaching $47.43 billion by August-end.
