Sports Ministry Sets New Rules For National Sports Federations

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has introduced new norms for financial assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs). These rules aim to regulate public funding and enhance athlete preparation, governance, and accountability. Key provisions include earmarking 20% of the annual budget for grassroots development and announcing selection policies at least one year before major events. Federations with budgets over Rs. 10 crore must appoint a High Performance Director. The guidelines also cover support for coaches, sports science, and athlete development programmes.

युवा मामले और खेल मंत्रालय ने राष्ट्रीय खेल महासंघों (NSFs) को वित्तीय सहायता के लिए नए मानदंड पेश किए हैं। इन नियमों का उद्देश्य सार्वजनिक धन का नियमन करना और खिलाड़ियों की तैयारी, शासन और जवाबदेही को बढ़ाना है। मुख्य प्रावधानों में जमीनी स्तर पर विकास के लिए वार्षिक बजट का 20% अलग रखना और प्रमुख आयोजनों से कम से कम एक साल पहले चयन नीतियों की घोषणा करना शामिल है। 10 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक के बजट वाले महासंघों को एक हाई परफॉरमेंस डायरेक्टर नियुक्त करना होगा। दिशानिर्देशों में कोचों, खेल विज्ञान और एथलीट विकास कार्यक्रमों के लिए समर्थन भी शामिल है।
