The Hindu · india
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has conducted searches at five premises in Bengaluru linked to a counterfeit medicines racket. The agency has frozen a bank account containing approximately ₹9 lakh belonging to an accused individual. This action stems from an investigation into money laundering, originating from a joint raid that found individuals storing and relabeling medicines without valid licenses. The ED is investigating how cheap formulations were repackaged and sold as expensive branded antibiotics, with distribution channels identified. Further investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the money-laundering network.
