Tamil Nadu to Focus on 36 Sports Disciplines, Introduce Cricket in Hostels

Tamil Nadu's sports minister Aadhav Arjuna announced an ambitious plan to focus on 36 sports disciplines, with the ultimate goal of preparing athletes for the 2036 Olympics. Starting next year, cricket will be officially introduced into state-run sports hostels, alongside squash. The government aims to significantly scale up the number of athletes in sports hostels from 2,800 to 30,000 across all 38 districts. Coaches will also receive financial incentives equivalent to prize money awarded to athletes, with a proposal to be taken up with the Chief Minister.

तमिलनाडु के खेल मंत्री आदव अर्जुन ने 36 खेल विधाओं पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने की एक महत्वाकांक्षी योजना की घोषणा की है, जिसका अंतिम लक्ष्य 2036 के ओलंपिक के लिए एथलीट तैयार करना है। अगले साल से, राज्य द्वारा संचालित खेल हॉस्टल में आधिकारिक तौर पर क्रिकेट को स्क्वैश के साथ पेश किया जाएगा। सरकार का लक्ष्य सभी 38 जिलों में खेल हॉस्टल में एथलीटों की संख्या को 2,800 से बढ़ाकर 30,000 करना है। कोचों को भी एथलीटों को दिए जाने वाले पुरस्कार राशि के बराबर वित्तीय प्रोत्साहन मिलेगा, जिसका प्रस्ताव मुख्यमंत्री के साथ लिया जाएगा।
