इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने 38 साल बाद 1988 के दुष्कर्म के मामले में सज़ा को पलट दिया है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि अभियोजन पक्ष मामले को उचित संदेह से परे साबित करने में नाकाम रहा। कोर्ट ने यह भी कहा कि पीड़िता बालिग थी, अपने कामों से वाकिफ थी और सहमति देने वाली लग रही थी। आरोपी सुभाष को मेरठ की एक सत्र अदालत ने दुष्कर्म और अपहरण के मामले में दोषी ठहराया था। वह अपील के दौरान जमानत पर था और उसे उसकी ज़मानत की शर्तों से मुक्त कर दिया गया है।
