Trichy Corporation Allocates Rs 3.1 Crore for Monsoon Desilting Drive

The Trichy Corporation has allocated Rs 3.1 crore to desilt drains, channels, and canals across its five zones ahead of the monsoon season. The drive aims to prevent waterlogging and inundation complaints. A total of 215.7km of drain network will be cleaned, with excavators used for major channels and manual cleaning for narrower residential drains. Low-lying and flood-prone areas are being prioritized. Plastic waste poses a significant challenge, choking drains and hindering the cleaning process, with a proposal to cover drains yet to be implemented due to funding issues.

तिरुचि निगम ने मानसून से पहले अपने पांचों जोन में नालियों, चैनलों और नहरों की सफाई के लिए 3.1 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए हैं। इस अभियान का मकसद जलभराव और बाढ़ की शिकायतों को रोकना है। कुल 215.7 किमी नाला नेटवर्क की सफाई की जाएगी, जिसमें बड़े चैनलों के लिए एक्सकेवेटर और संकरी आवासीय नालियों के लिए मैन्युअल सफाई का उपयोग किया जाएगा। निचले और बाढ़-प्रवण क्षेत्रों को प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है। प्लास्टिक कचरा एक बड़ी चुनौती पेश कर रहा है, जो नालियों को जाम कर रहा है और सफाई प्रक्रिया में बाधा डाल रहा है, जिसके लिए धन की कमी के कारण नालियों को ढकने का प्रस्ताव अभी तक लागू नहीं किया गया है।
