Patna Protesters Clash With Police Over CEC Resignation

Members of the Communist Party of India and affiliated Left-wing organisations clashed with police in Patna on September 28, 2026. Protesters were attempting to march towards the Lok Bhavan demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the cancellation of the Special Intensive Review of electoral rolls. Police used barricades and water cannons to stop the march, leading to clashes. A delegation later submitted a memorandum of demands to the Governor. The protest also included demands related to agricultural labourers and public sector assets.

भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी और उससे जुड़े वामपंथी संगठनों के सदस्यों की 28 सितंबर 2026 को पटना में पुलिस से झड़प हुई। प्रदर्शनकारी लोक भवन की ओर मार्च करने की कोशिश कर रहे थे और मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे और चुनावी रोल्स की स्पेशल इंटेंसिव रिव्यू को रद्द करने की मांग कर रहे थे। पुलिस ने मार्च रोकने के लिए बैरिकेड्स और वाटर कैनन का इस्तेमाल किया, जिससे झड़पें हुईं। बाद में एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने राज्यपाल को मांगों का एक ज्ञापन सौंपा। विरोध प्रदर्शन में कृषि मजदूरों और सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की संपत्तियों से संबंधित मांगें भी शामिल थीं।
