Odisha Police are launching a new initiative to combat child marriage by training adolescent students, aged 14-18, to become community watchdogs. Ahead of International Day of the Girl Child, police stations will conduct a three-day awareness drive starting October 8. This program, under the Juventica child safety initiative, aims to empower students to report underage marriages. Despite declining rates, child marriage remains a concern in Odisha, with 18.6% of girls married before 18 according to recent data.
