Indian Rupee Likely to Resume Slide Amid Foreign Outflows and External Pressures
Business Standard · stocks
Most FX strategists polled by Reuters anticipate the Indian rupee will weaken in the coming months, reversing recent gains. Forecasts suggest the rupee could fall to 96.00 per dollar by end-January and 96.33 by end-April, pressured by high oil prices and significant foreign investor outflows. Despite a weaker US dollar and RBI interventions, these pressures are expected to persist. Foreign exchange reserves have fallen to $719.75 billion, while forward dollar liabilities have reached a record $239.2 billion, indicating strain on the currency.
