Indian Rupee Near Asia's Bottom Amid Global Economic Headwinds
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The Indian rupee has been one of Asia's worst performers this quarter and month, primarily due to concerns over high crude oil prices and rising global bond yields. Despite these headwinds, the currency declined by only 0.7% in the last month and 1.2% in the July-September quarter, largely due to consistent interventions by the Reserve Bank of India. Analysts suggest that while elevated oil prices may continue to impact the current account, healthier capital flows and RBI's policy tools are expected to keep the rupee rangebound.
