India has expanded its crude oil supply network from 27 to 41 countries to mitigate risks from geopolitical tensions and disruptions in key shipping routes like the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that diversifying import sources is crucial as international shipping route disruptions can directly impact Indian industries and household expenses. The country is importing over 5 million barrels of oil daily, supported by increasing refining capacity.
