Fishermen Protest Tamil Nadu Secretariat Plan

Fishermen panchayat representatives have issued an ultimatum to the Tamil Nadu government, urging them to abandon the plan to build a Secretariat-cum-Assembly complex at Foreshore Estate. Community leaders stated they were not consulted and massive statewide protests will occur if construction proceeds. They highlighted that a significant portion of the proposed land belongs to the Srinivasapuram/Mullikuppam fishing hamlet, where homes were expected.

मछुआरों की पंचायत के प्रतिनिधियों ने तमिलनाडु सरकार को चेतावनी दी है कि वे फोरशोर एस्टेट में सचिवालय-सह-विधानसभा परिसर बनाने की योजना छोड़ दें। समुदाय के नेताओं ने कहा कि उनसे सलाह नहीं ली गई और अगर निर्माण हुआ तो पूरे राज्य में बड़े पैमाने पर विरोध प्रदर्शन होंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि प्रस्तावित जमीन का एक बड़ा हिस्सा श्रीनिवासपुरम/मुल्लिकुप्पम मछली पकड़ने वाले गांव का है, जहाँ घर बनने की उम्मीद थी।
