Congress Defends Crop Insurance Payouts, Accuses BJP of Misleading Farmers

District Congress Committee president Padmaraj R Poojary has defended the Karnataka government's crop insurance payouts under the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS). He accused local BJP functionaries of misleading farmers due to their lack of understanding of the scheme. Poojary countered allegations by Belthangady BJP MLA Harish Poonja, stating that payouts are determined by scientific weather parameters and predetermined conditions, not government discretion. Compensation is calculated based on weather indices recorded by automated weather stations, not visible crop damage.

जिला कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष पद्मराज आर पुजारी ने कर्नाटक सरकार के Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) के तहत फसल बीमा भुगतान का बचाव किया है। उन्होंने स्थानीय बीजेपी पदाधिकारियों पर योजना की समझ न होने के कारण किसानों को गुमराह करने का आरोप लगाया। पुजारी ने बेलथंगडी बीजेपी विधायक हरीश पूंजा के आरोपों का खंडन करते हुए कहा कि भुगतान सरकारी विवेक से नहीं, बल्कि वैज्ञानिक मौसम मापदंडों और पूर्व-निर्धारित शर्तों के आधार पर तय होते हैं। मुआवजा दिखाई देने वाली फसल क्षति के आधार पर नहीं, बल्कि स्वचालित मौसम स्टेशनों द्वारा दर्ज किए गए मौसम सूचकांकों के आधार पर गणना की जाती है।
