Fresh fires erupted at the 19th-century Koder House in Fort Kochi on Wednesday, a day after a major blaze, due to strong winds fanning smouldering wooden planks. Fire officials quickly controlled the flare-ups, but the mansion, now a boutique hotel, sustained significant damage, particularly on the top floor. While no guests were harmed, some lost valuables and passports. The incident has heightened concerns about the fire safety of other heritage buildings in the area, which reportedly lacks a proper water-hydrant system, raising fears of uncontrolled blazes.
