Toddler Suffers Brain Damage After Ear Surgery; Hospital Negligence Case Referred to Medical Council

A 14-month-old boy has suffered severe brain damage after a routine ear surgery at Cloudnine Hospital, Nagarabhavi, Bengaluru. The child experienced cardiac arrest in the operation theatre due to alleged medical negligence during anesthesia administration. An expert panel found the anesthesiologist was not adequately trained for children, leading to prolonged oxygen deprivation. The Bengaluru Urban District Health Officer has now referred the case to the Karnataka Medical Council for an inquiry and disciplinary action. The toddler remains unresponsive, blind, and requires ongoing critical care.

बेंगलुरु के नागरभावी स्थित क्लाउडनाइन हॉस्पिटल में एक रूटीन कान की सर्जरी के बाद 14 महीने के एक बच्चे को गंभीर ब्रेन डैमेज हुआ है। एनेस्थीसिया देते समय कथित मेडिकल लापरवाही के कारण ऑपरेशन थिएटर में बच्चे को कार्डियक अरेस्ट आया। एक विशेषज्ञ पैनल ने पाया कि एनेस्थेसियोलॉजिस्ट बच्चों के लिए पर्याप्त रूप से प्रशिक्षित नहीं थे, जिससे लंबे समय तक ऑक्सीजन की कमी हुई। बेंगलुरु शहरी जिला स्वास्थ्य अधिकारी ने अब मामले को जांच और अनुशासनात्मक कार्रवाई के लिए कर्नाटक मेडिकल काउंसिल को भेज दिया है। बच्चा अभी भी बेसुध है, अंधा है और उसे लगातार गंभीर देखभाल की आवश्यकता है।
