The Tamil Nadu government has initiated a statewide rainwater harvesting (RWH) campaign to promote water conservation as a mass movement. The initiative focuses on repairing existing structures and building new ones to enhance groundwater recharge. Stricter enforcement of RWH under building regulations is mandated for all types of buildings, including existing ones lacking facilities. Interventions like check dams and soak pits will be constructed, and damaged systems will be repaired. Local bodies will maintain digital records of water conservation structures, with periodic reviews by district administrations to track groundwater levels.

तमिलनाडु सरकार ने जल संरक्षण को जन आंदोलन के रूप में बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक राज्यव्यापी वर्षा जल संचयन (RWH) अभियान शुरू किया है। यह पहल भूजल पुनर्भरण को बढ़ाने के लिए मौजूदा ढाँचों की मरम्मत और नए ढाँचों के निर्माण पर केंद्रित है। इमारतों के नियमों के तहत RWH का सख्त प्रवर्तन सभी प्रकार की इमारतों के लिए अनिवार्य है, जिनमें मौजूदा इमारतें भी शामिल हैं जिनमें ये सुविधाएँ नहीं हैं। चेक डैम और सोख गड्ढों जैसे हस्तक्षेपों का निर्माण किया जाएगा, और क्षतिग्रस्त प्रणालियों की मरम्मत की जाएगी। स्थानीय निकाय जल संरक्षण ढाँचों के डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड बनाए रखेंगे, और भूजल स्तर को ट्रैक करने के लिए जिला प्रशासन द्वारा आवधिक समीक्षा की जाएगी।
