A 57-year-old Gandak Barrage at Valmikinagar played a crucial role in shielding Bihar from a massive flood surge originating in Nepal. Following catastrophic floods in Nepal on August 26, engineers opened all 36 gates of the barrage, releasing nearly 1.5 lakh cusecs of water. This controlled release helped manage the influx of water from the Gandak river, preventing a more destructive surge downstream.

नेपाल से आई भयंकर बाढ़ को रोकने में वाल्मीकिनगर के 57 साल पुराने गंडक बैराज ने बिहार को बचाने में अहम भूमिका निभाई। 26 अगस्त को नेपाल में आई विनाशकारी बाढ़ के बाद, इंजीनियरों ने बैराज के सभी 36 गेट खोल दिए, जिससे करीब 1.5 लाख क्यूसेक पानी छोड़ा गया। इस नियंत्रित बहाव ने गंडक नदी से आए पानी के दबाव को संभाला और बिहार में तबाही को रोका।
