WHO Unsure of Cause of Pneumonia That Killed Russian Plague Lab Worker

The World Health Organization stated it remains uncertain about the cause of pneumonia that led to the death of a Russian lab worker at an anti-plague research center in Siberia. Russian authorities reported that tests on the worker and her contacts for high-threat pathogens were negative, and no plague cases were registered. The WHO noted that while contacts showed no symptoms and no further linked pneumonia cases were identified, a confirmed diagnosis for the deceased remains elusive.
