Scientists have identified a new species of wild cat, the Tilcayo tiger cat, in Bolivia's Yungas region. This marks the first discovery of a new wild cat species in over a century, with the last being the Uruguayan pampas cat in 1923. The small feline, named Leopardus tilcayo after local slang, has a spotted coat and rounded ears. Researchers began studying the species in 2021, with findings published recently.
