Although not born in Hisar, Indian hockey stars Savita Punia and Deepika Seharawat honed their skills at Haryana Agricultural University’s Giri Centre. Coach Prof Azad Singh Malik guided them, transforming them into international players. Savita, known as 'India's Wall', was instrumental in the team's Asian Games gold medal win, ending a 44-year drought. Deepika is recognized for her attacking play and goal-scoring prowess. Both players credit Malik's dedicated training and guidance at the Giri Centre as the foundational element of their successful careers.
