Indian government bonds emerged as the top performers in emerging Asia this week, driven by a decline in oil prices and US Treasury yields following the US midterm election results. This eased pressure on the Indian rupee and led investors to reduce expectations of aggressive Reserve Bank of India rate hikes. Foreign investors returned to the Indian debt market, making significant net purchases. The positive global sentiment also boosted Indian stocks and the rupee, with oil prices falling sharply due to prospects of a resolution to the Iran war.
