IIT Jodhpur Develops AI System To Preserve Ancient Indian Manuscripts

IIT Jodhpur is developing an Artificial Intelligence system to digitize ancient Indian manuscripts, preserving valuable knowledge on subjects like mathematics, astronomy, and medicine. Many of these historical documents are deteriorating, with faded text and torn pages making them difficult to read. The AI platform will analyze scripts, languages, and unique features, even identifying multiple languages on a single page. It will initially support six Indian scripts, including Devanagari and Sharda, with plans for more languages to aid researchers and students in accessing India's rich historical and literary heritage.
