BBC Hindi · politics
The Election Commission has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court addressing allegations of unilateral decisions by the Chief Election Commissioner regarding SIR orders. The EC stated that all three orders issued between June 2025 and May 2026 were unanimous and legally compliant. This filing responds to a petition claiming 13.36 crore names were removed from draft voter lists due to these decisions. The commission also denied making amendments to Form 6, asserting it only streamlined a declaration format for the Bihar SIR process.
