Protect Ancient Rock Paintings In Tamil Nadu

A heritage group has urged the Tamil Nadu government to protect prehistoric rock paintings at Moonandipatti in Theni district. The Centre for Heritage and Ecological Research through Arts and Literature (Cheral) requested the district collector and archaeology department to declare the site a protected monument. The paintings, estimated to be around 5,000 years old, depict combat scenes, human figures, and animals. They are threatened by natural weathering and vandalism, risking irreversible loss of cultural records without conservation.

एक हेरिटेज ग्रुप ने तमिलनाडु सरकार से थेनी जिले के मूनंदीपट्टी में प्रागैतिहासिक शैल चित्रों की सुरक्षा करने की अपील की है। सेंटर फॉर हेरिटेज एंड इकोलॉजिकल रिसर्च थ्रू आर्ट्स एंड लिटरेचर (Cheral) ने जिला कलेक्टर और पुरातत्व विभाग से इस स्थल को संरक्षित स्मारक घोषित करने का अनुरोध किया है। लगभग 5,000 साल पुराने माने जाने वाले इन चित्रों में युद्ध के दृश्य, मानव आकृतियाँ और जानवर दर्शाए गए हैं। ये प्राकृतिक क्षरण और बर्बरता से खतरे में हैं, और संरक्षण के बिना सांस्कृतिक अभिलेखों का अपरिवर्तनीय नुकसान का जोखिम है।
