भारत सरकार ने 11 लाख से ज़्यादा रेल कर्मचारियों के लिए 78 दिनों के वेतन के बराबर एक बड़ा उत्पादकता से जुड़ा बोनस (PLB) मंज़ूर किया है। केंद्रीय मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव द्वारा की गई इस घोषणा के अनुसार, कुल ₹2,009 करोड़ से ज़्यादा का भुगतान किया जाएगा। योग्य गैर-राजपत्रित कर्मचारियों को दुर्गा पूजा की छुट्टियों से पहले यह बोनस मिलेगा, जिसमें व्यक्तिगत भुगतान ₹17,951 तक सीमित रहेगा। यह कदम पिछले वित्तीय वर्ष में Indian Railways के उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन को स्वीकार करता है, जिसमें रिकॉर्ड माल लदान और यात्री परिवहन शामिल था।
