Survey Reveals Over 3 in 4 Pilots Sleep During Flights

A recent survey of 7,200 pilots indicates a significant safety concern, with over three-quarters reporting falling asleep during flights. Nearly 77% admitted to losing control of the aircraft due to 'microsleep' in the past month. Many pilots cited fatigue from insufficient rest and a culture of fear regarding reporting unfit conditions. Concerns were also raised about the 'commander's discretion' rule, which allows flight duty extensions, with many pilots fearing repercussions if they refuse.
