Relatives of Jharkhand high court advocate Anushka Chakraborty ended a nearly 50-hour standoff on Saturday, agreeing to take her body for last rites after police assured them of an SIT probe and swift arrests. The family had refused to accept the body since Anushka's suspicious death on Thursday, alleging dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws. They had blocked a major road demanding immediate action, accusing authorities of trying to hush up the case.

झारखंड हाई कोर्ट की वकील अनुष्का चक्रवर्ती के रिश्तेदारों ने शनिवार को लगभग 50 घंटे का गतिरोध खत्म कर दिया। उन्होंने पुलिस द्वारा एसआईटी जांच और त्वरित गिरफ्तारी का आश्वासन दिए जाने के बाद उनके अंतिम संस्कार के लिए शव लेने पर सहमति व्यक्त की। परिवार अनुष्का की गुरुवार को हुई संदिग्ध मौत के बाद से शव लेने से इनकार कर रहा था। उन्होंने दहेज उत्पीड़न का आरोप अपने पति और ससुराल वालों पर लगाया था। उन्होंने तत्काल कार्रवाई की मांग करते हुए एक प्रमुख सड़क को अवरुद्ध कर दिया था और अधिकारियों पर मामले को दबाने की कोशिश करने का आरोप लगाया था।
