Delhi High Court Halts Aadhaar Biometric Attendance Mandate For Prosecutors

Hindustan Times · india

The Delhi High Court has stayed a city government order that mandated public prosecutors to mark their daily attendance using Aadhaar-enabled biometric systems. The Delhi Prosecutors' Welfare Association challenged the directive, arguing that prosecutors are officers of the court whose presence is already recorded in judicial order sheets. They contended that the biometric system is arbitrary, infringes on privacy, and could divert them from judicial functions, potentially delaying justice. The court has issued a notice to the government, and the matter is scheduled for further hearing in December.
