India's Renewable Energy Faces Curtailment Challenges

India's significant renewable energy growth, particularly solar, is being hampered by power curtailment. This occurs when renewable plants are instructed to reduce output due to grid limitations. Between April and June 2026, India curtailed 8,133 GW-hours of solar power, exceeding 10% of its potential output. Around 21GW of renewable capacity operates under temporary grid arrangements, leading to first curtailment during congestion. Developers have reportedly lost approximately ₹4,500 crore since February 2025 due to these restrictions, impacting their ability to service debt.

भारत के रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी को उत्पादन रोकने की समस्या

भारत में रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी, खासकर सोलर पावर, का तेजी से विकास हो रहा है, लेकिन पावर कटेलमेंट (उत्पादन रोकने) की वजह से इसमें रुकावट आ रही है। ऐसा तब होता है जब ग्रिड की सीमाओं के कारण रिन्यूएबल प्लांट्स को अपना उत्पादन कम करने का निर्देश दिया जाता है। अप्रैल से जून 2026 के बीच, भारत ने 8,133 GW-घंटे सोलर पावर का उत्पादन रोका, जो इसकी संभावित क्षमता के 10% से भी ज़्यादा था। करीब 21GW की रिन्यूएबल क्षमता अस्थायी ग्रिड व्यवस्था के तहत काम कर रही है, जिससे कंजेशन के दौरान पहली बार कटेलमेंट हो रहा है।
