Russia is pushing for urgent practical steps to prevent an arms race in outer space, according to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. She stated that recent remarks from the US Air Force secretary about possessing orbital weapons highlight the relevance of Russia's multilateral initiatives. Russia plans to submit proposals to the UN General Assembly's First Committee from October 5 to November 6, inviting all UN member countries to support and co-author.
