Gujarati Community Preserves 90-Year-Old Navratri Tradition In Mangaluru
Times of India · lifestyle
For over 90 years, the Sri Gujarati Mahajan Association in Mangaluru has maintained Gujarat's religious and cultural traditions through its Navratri celebrations. Founded in 1935, the association began this year's festivities with traditional prayers and the ceremonial establishment of a sacred sanctum. Celebrations focus on devotion, ritual, and community participation, featuring traditional Garba and Dandiya dances performed exclusively by members. The association strictly prohibits photography and videography to protect participants' privacy and preserve the sanctity of worship, ensuring younger generations experience the authentic spiritual essence.
