Domestic thermal power plants maintained coal stocks above 18 million tonnes as of October 10, with daily supplies averaging 2.49 MT. The Coal Ministry assured these stocks are adequate to meet current power demand. Coal supplies are now keeping pace with daily consumption, which is less than 3 MT per day. The rate of stock depletion has significantly moderated, reflecting improved rail freight movement and a 10% increase in daily coal rake loading for power plants.
