Reports indicate that Indian youth were deceived by agents and recruited into the Russian army under the guise of job opportunities. Russia has no official system for recruiting foreigners into its military. These individuals were reportedly enlisted during the peak of the Russia-Ukraine war when the Russian army needed more personnel. Approximately 227 Indians were involved, with around 140 already repatriated and efforts ongoing for the remaining 55. India has raised the issue with Russia, seeking the safe return of its citizens.

खबरों के मुताबिक, भारतीय युवाओं को एजेंटों ने नौकरी का लालच देकर रूसी सेना में भर्ती कराया। रूस में विदेशियों को अपनी सेना में भर्ती करने की कोई आधिकारिक व्यवस्था नहीं है। रूस-यूक्रेन युद्ध के चरम पर जब रूसी सेना को और सैनिकों की ज़रूरत थी, तब इन लोगों को भर्ती किया गया था। लगभग 227 भारतीय इसमें शामिल थे, जिनमें से करीब 140 को वापस लाया जा चुका है और बाकी 55 के लिए कोशिशें जारी हैं। भारत ने अपने नागरिकों की सुरक्षित वापसी के लिए यह मामला रूस के सामने उठाया है।
