Over 3.85 Lakh Cases Pending in 28 Information Commissions

Fourteen commissions face estimated waiting times of a year or more for case disposal. Maharashtra's SIC reported the highest backlog with 77,397 pending cases, while the Central Information Commission (CIC) had 39,121. The report attributes these significant delays to commission vacancies and a slow disposal rate, with the CIC estimated to take over two years to resolve a matter.

सतर्क नागरिक संगठन की एक रिपोर्ट बताती है कि 30 जून 2026 तक भारत के 28 सूचना आयोगों में 3.85 लाख से ज़्यादा मामले लंबित थे। चौदह आयोगों में मामलों के निपटारे के लिए एक साल या उससे ज़्यादा का अनुमानित इंतज़ार है। महाराष्ट्र के SIC में सबसे ज़्यादा 77,397 मामले लंबित थे, जबकि Central Information Commission (CIC) में 39,121 मामले थे। रिपोर्ट इन देरी की बड़ी वजह आयोगों में खाली पद और धीमी निपटान दर को बताती है, जिसमें CIC को एक मामले को सुलझाने में दो साल से ज़्यादा का समय लगने का अनुमान है।
