Tennis legend Vijay Amritraj believes modern tennis has traded grace for power, a significant shift from his playing days. He noted that changes in court surfaces, equipment, and player physicality have led to a more forceful game. Amritraj, a former ATP Player Council President, also commented on the demanding schedules, suggesting they are necessary for the survival of lower-tier tournaments. He observed that players' increased height and heavier balls contribute to the evolution of playing styles, including the prevalent use of two-handed backhands.
