The Chhattisgarh government officially handed over the probe to the central agency, following a police investigation that uncovered a multi-month racket. Allegations involve collusion between plant employees, transporters, scrap dealers, and private steel companies. The case first surfaced when police received a tip about scrap being illegally transported out of the plant.

छत्तीसगढ़ के भिलाई स्टील प्लांट (BSP) से लोहे के कबाड़ की सुनियोजित चोरी का मामला अब CBI की जांच के दायरे में आ गया है। राज्य सरकार ने पुलिस जांच के बाद इस मामले को केंद्रीय एजेंसी को सौंप दिया है। पुलिस की जांच में कई महीनों से चल रहे एक रैकेट का खुलासा हुआ था। आरोप है कि प्लांट के कर्मचारियों, ट्रांसपोर्टरों, कबाड़ डीलरों और निजी स्टील कंपनियों की मिलीभगत से यह चोरी हो रही थी। यह मामला तब सामने आया जब पुलिस को प्लांट से अवैध रूप से कबाड़ बाहर ले जाने की सूचना मिली थी।
