Vedanta Renews Push For Niyamgiri Bauxite Mining

Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal met with Odisha's chief minister to discuss reviving the stalled Niyamgiri bauxite mining project. The proposal was shelved in 2013 after tribal resistance and unanimous rejection by 12 gram sabhas. Agarwal emphasized job creation for affected tribals and highlighted Odisha's bauxite reserves as a key economic asset. He noted a shift in the state's attitude towards industrialization, with people increasingly recognizing the role of mining in economic growth and employment generation. Vedanta aims to secure bauxite for its Lanjigarh refinery.

वेदांता के चेयरमैन अनिल अग्रवाल ने ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री से मिलकर नियामगिरी बॉक्साइट माइनिंग प्रोजेक्ट को फिर से शुरू करने पर बात की। यह प्रोजेक्ट 2013 में आदिवासियों के विरोध और 12 ग्राम सभाओं द्वारा मना करने के बाद रोक दिया गया था। अग्रवाल ने आदिवासियों के लिए रोजगार की बात कही और ओडिशा के बॉक्साइट भंडार को राज्य के लिए अहम बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि अब लोग औद्योगीकरण और खनन को आर्थिक विकास के लिए जरूरी मानने लगे हैं। वेदांता अपनी लंजिगढ़ रिफाइनरी के लिए बॉक्साइट हासिल करना चाहता है।
