Oncologist Warns of Late Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Younger Women Due to Dense Breasts
Times of India · health
Breast cancer is increasingly affecting younger women, making early detection crucial, according to Senior Oncologist Dr. Mandeep Singh Malhotra. He highlights that dense breast tissue in younger women can make lumps harder to detect and mammograms difficult to interpret. Cancers in younger women are also often more aggressive subtypes. Factors contributing to this rise include hereditary mutations like BRCA1/BRCA2, alongside lifestyle changes such as earlier puberty, later marriage, obesity, and high stress. Dr. Malhotra stresses the importance of breast health awareness, especially in India where fear can hinder medical consultations.
