AMU Student Union Elections Held After 8 Years With Regional Lobbying Dominating

Voting is underway for the AMU student union elections after an eight-year hiatus. Approximately 145 candidates are contesting for around 35 positions, with particular focus on six key posts including president, vice-president, and secretary for both the student union and women's college union. Unlike previous elections, this year's contest features no official panels from national or regional political parties. Instead, the elections are characterized by direct competition among regional lobbies, primarily from Bihar, Western UP, and Eastern UP, vying for influence and student support.
