Allahabad HC Asks UP Govt to Consider Halting E-rickshaw Registrations in Lucknow

The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has urged the Uttar Pradesh government to consider stopping fresh e-rickshaw registrations in Lucknow and other cities if their numbers are deemed excessive. The court cited the approximately 1.33 lakh e-rickshaws contributing significantly to traffic congestion in the state capital. The bench directed the additional chief secretary (transport) to examine the issue and potentially issue orders to halt registrations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट की लखनऊ बेंच ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार से कहा है कि अगर उनकी संख्या बहुत ज्यादा है तो लखनऊ और दूसरे शहरों में नए ई-रिक्शा के रजिस्ट्रेशन को रोकने पर विचार करे। कोर्ट ने कहा कि राज्य की राजधानी में करीब 1.33 लाख ई-रिक्शा ट्रैफिक जाम की एक बड़ी वजह बन रहे हैं। बेंच ने एडिशनल चीफ सेक्रेटरी (ट्रांसपोर्ट) को इस मामले की जांच करने और मोटर व्हीकल एक्ट के तहत रजिस्ट्रेशन रोकने के आदेश जारी करने का निर्देश दिया है।
