FSDA has shut down 24 charitable blood banks across the state due to severe operational flaws. An extensive inspection of 158 blood banks in 62 districts revealed critical issues, including the release of blood without mandatory screening, the presence of contaminated plasma, and inadequate cold chain maintenance. Some centers lacked essential technical staff and proper record-keeping, while others operated despite suspended licenses. These actions were taken to ensure the safety and integrity of blood supply to patients.
