Kozhikode Medical College Hospital's Virtual Autopsy Launch Faces Delays

The Hindu · india

The planned introduction of virtual autopsy, an advanced forensic technique, at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital is experiencing delays as the process is still ongoing. A Forensic Medicine Department member recently completed training in Shillong, a pioneer in the field. The department has submitted a detailed proposal to the government, outlining necessary staff and equipment, and is consulting with AIIMS, New Delhi experts. While virtual autopsies use imaging instead of dissection, medico-legal autopsies remain mandatory for suspicious deaths. No government hospital in Kerala currently offers this system.
