The Allahabad High Court has quashed an FIR alleging dowry harassment and cruelty, warning against the misuse of criminal law in short-lived marriages. A division bench noted that general allegations cannot justify criminal proceedings in a marriage that lasted only two-and-a-half months. The court cautioned that routinely converting matrimonial discord into criminal prosecution could fundamentally affect the institution of marriage. It emphasized that indiscriminate criminalization deepens conflict and can turn penal statutes into leverage in disputes.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने दहेज उत्पीड़न और क्रूरता के आरोप वाली FIR रद्द कर दी है। कोर्ट ने छोटी अवधि के विवाह में आपराधिक कानून के दुरुपयोग के खिलाफ चेतावनी दी है। एक डिविजन बेंच ने कहा कि ढाई महीने तक चले विवाह में सामान्य आरोप आपराधिक कार्यवाही को सही नहीं ठहरा सकते। कोर्ट ने आगाह किया कि वैवाहिक कलह को नियमित रूप से आपराधिक अभियोजन में बदलने से विवाह संस्था पर मौलिक असर पड़ सकता है। इस बात पर जोर दिया गया कि अंधाधुंध अपराधीकरण संघर्ष को बढ़ाता है और दंड कानूनों को विवादों में हथियार बना सकता है।
