Washington Couple Sues Utility Over Taller Tower Replacement
Times of India - India · india
A Washington couple is suing Orcas Power and Light Cooperative (OPALCO) over the replacement of an old wooden utility tower with a taller steel structure. Liz Covert and Denis Goudie claim the existing easement on their property does not permit such above-ground infrastructure. They allege OPALCO threatened to cut off their electricity if they didn't sign a new easement. The utility maintains the pole site was established with prior owner consent and that members grant easements upon joining.
