केंद्र सरकार ने हिमाचल प्रदेश के छह सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेजों में 320 स्नातकोत्तर मेडिकल सीटें जोड़ने को मंजूरी दे दी है। केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री जेपी नड्डा ने घोषणा की कि भारतीय सरकार इस विस्तार के लिए लगभग ₹415 करोड़ की ग्रांट प्रदान करेगी। इस कदम का उद्देश्य राज्य के भीतर उच्च चिकित्सा शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए स्थानीय युवाओं के अवसरों को बढ़ाना है। हिमाचल सरकार से प्रस्ताव मिलने के तुरंत बाद यह मंजूरी मिली, साथ ही मुख्यमंत्री के साथ भी चर्चा हुई।
