Indian IT Vendor Jailed For Data Breach

An Indian IT vendor, Janarthanan Tamil Kovan, has been sentenced to 28 weeks in jail in Singapore for compromising over 18,000 files belonging to the State Courts. While working as an external IT vendor for the courts in June 2024, he granted an acquaintance remote access to his government-issued laptop. The laptop contained restricted and sensitive files, including login credentials and network architecture details. Although no files were transferred, his actions endangered the safety of this data, potentially allowing unauthorised access to sensitive systems.
