Bhubaneswar Civic Body Faces Rs 30 Cr Revenue Loss From Residential Building Commercial Use Ban

Times of India · business

BMC is projected to lose at least Rs 30 crore in annual holding tax revenue this year due to the enforcement of Supreme Court directives against commercial activities in residential buildings. Approximately 5,000 property owners who were using their premises for commercial purposes have been issued notices to discontinue these operations. This action will shift these properties from higher commercial tax rates to lower residential rates, impacting BMC's collections.
