Nashik Faces Tight Deadline for Rs 35,000 Crore Kumbh Mela Infrastructure Works

Nashik has approximately eight to nine months to complete nearly Rs 35,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, scheduled for August-September 2027. President Droupadi Murmu marked the formal start of the Mela, but the administration faces significant challenges, including land acquisition for Sadhugram and road development. Around 51% of the works are completed, with a March 2027 deadline. Key tasks include creating a large Sadhugram for an expected 10 lakh sadhus and cleaning the Godavari River by stopping sewage discharge.
