Global LNG Prices Surge 6%, Pressuring India's Gas Affordability

Times of India - Business · business

Global liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices have jumped 6% week-on-week to an average of $32 per million British thermal units (mmBtu). This surge, coupled with higher crude transportation costs and narrowing discounts on Russian oil, is increasing cost pressures for India. Lower gas inventories in Europe as winter approaches are raising concerns about the affordability of imported gas for India. The report indicates that domestic affordability is already stretched at current prices, suggesting gas prices will remain elevated.
