Normal BMI Doesn't Guarantee Good Health: Cardiologist Lists 5 Key Markers
Hindustan Times · health
A normal Body Mass Index (BMI) does not always signify perfect health, according to cardiologist Dr Rahul Mehrotra. BMI only measures weight relative to height and fails to account for crucial factors like abdominal fat, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. Dr Mehrotra advises individuals to monitor waist circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar (HbA1c), lipid profile, and overall fitness and muscle strength. These markers provide a more comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic health beyond just weight.
